Web Control Products for Rubber Industry

Arise has been deeply engaged in the rubber industry for many years, with solutions covering the entire process from calendering, extrusion, cutting to tire building. With over two decades of technical expertise and industry experience, our products are widely used in tire manufacturing, conveyor belts, and rubber products, effectively stabilizing uncured rubber sheet quality, improving production yield, and achieving seamless integration with existing production lines.

Facing the rubber industry’s stringent requirements for thickness uniformity, width accuracy, and surface quality, as well as the challenges of quality control at high production speeds, Arise’s web guiding, tension control, thickness and width measurement, and visual inspection systems can effectively reduce waste, stabilize quality, lower rework costs, and ensure the safety of tires and rubber products in use.

Web Control Solutions for Rubber Industry

Calendering

Calendering determines tire body strength consistency, with sheet thickness uniformity at its core. Uncured rubber is soft, tacky and deforms easily from its own weight and temperature changes—even slight wandering or tension fluctuation can cause sticking, uneven stretching or tearing. Arise’s guide and tension systems, engineered for high-tack materials, maintain stable path and tension; the Thickness Measurement System monitors uniformity in real time, ensuring consistent quality across every batch.

In extrusion, the width accuracy of rubber strips and cord fabric directly determines whether cutting and tire building can align precisely. Arise’s Width Measurement System monitors width in real time during extrusion, catching deviations before they reach the next process. Meanwhile, the Web Guide System ensures the extruded material maintains a stable path when entering cooling and haul-off units, preventing edge irregularities and material waste caused by wandering.

Cutting & Tire Building

Cutting and tire building are the final verification of quality from upstream processes. The width accuracy and thickness consistency of cord fabric and rubber strips come into focus at this stage. Arise’s Width Measurement and Thickness Measurement systems perform final inspection before cutting, ensuring every cut material meets building requirements. At the same time, the Print Inspection System performs 100% online inspection of the rubber surface, identifying bubbles, cracks, contamination and other defects before tire building — rather than waiting to find them at finished-product sampling — effectively preventing scrap and safety risks caused by defects.

Cases

Shandong Dingchuang Tire Co., Ltd. introduced the Arise S1000 high-performance servo web guide controller into its all-steel radial tire production line, effectively reducing wandering issues of carcass ply and inner liner during calendering and tire building, and lowering the rejection rate caused by material misalignment.

Newbustar (Cambodia) Tire introduced Arise laser thickness and width measurement systems at its overseas factory, performing real-time online monitoring of tread, sidewall and other semi-finished components, effectively preventing cutting misalignment and tire building defects caused by uneven thickness or width variations, ensuring consistent batch quality.

FAQs

A: Arise’s Web Guide System is specifically engineered for high-tack materials, featuring long-stroke servo actuators and high-sensitivity sensors with a response time ≤50ms. The system detects edge position changes in real time through sensors and drives servo motors for precise correction, maintaining a stable material path during calendering, extrusion and other processes, effectively preventing sticking and tearing caused by wandering.

Arise Thickness Measurement System using noncontact laser or radiation measurement technology, the sensor is installed in a stable area behind the calender rolls to avoid hightemperature and vibration interference. It monitors sheet thickness uniformity in real time, ensuring consistent strength across all sections of the tire body.

A: Arise’s Print Inspection System features high-resolution industrial cameras and customized multi-angle lighting optimized for rubber’s dark color and low reflectivity. The system uses deep learning algorithms trained on extensive datasets of normal and defective samples, reliably identifying subtle defects such as bubbles, cracks, contamination and scratches, achieving 100% online inspection at high production speeds.

A: Arise’s Width Measurement System uses non-contact optical measurement technology, measuring material width in real time after the cooling section of the extrusion line and comparing it against target values. An alarm is triggered immediately when deviation exceeds set limits, and data is synced to the extruder control system for closed-loop adjustment, ensuring precise alignment in cutting and tire building.

A: Defects like bubbles, contamination and scratches — if not caught at the uncured sheet stage and found by customers in finished tires — result in not just returns but also claims and reputation damage. Arise’s Print Inspection System performs 100% online inspection during calendering and cutting, catching defects before tire building and keeping problems from reaching your customers.
